Mamata Banerjee celebrates Christmas with message of unity, attends midnight mass in Kolkata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the midnight prayer service on Christmas Eve at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary in Kolkata. The event is an important part of the Christmas celebrations for the Christian community in the city. Calcutta Archbishop Most Rev. Thomas D'Souza also participated in the service. The prayers focused on invoking blessings for peace, prosperity, and goodwill, highlighting the religious and cultural significance of the occasion for Christians in Bengal.

In her Christmas message, Banerjee emphasized the concept of 'unity in diversity,' a central tenet of Bengal's cultural and social fabric. She stated that this principle is not merely an ideal but a core aspect of the state's identity, underscoring the importance of harmony among people of different faiths and communities, especially during festive times like Christmas. Following the prayer service, Mamata Banerjee wished the people of Bengal and beyond a Merry Christmas through a social media post. She wrote, "May the light of Christmas fill your hearts with warmth and your homes with happiness. May God's blessings be upon you and your loved ones." Her message highlighted the themes of love, peace, and goodwill, reflecting the festive spirit of Christmas.
